Tia:

Growing up, my only hometown was wherever my mother, father and two sisters lived. My heart lies in memories, not in any geographic location. After moving to Kentucky for my senior year of high school, I chose to go to the University of Kentucky in Lexington.

My practical side took over and I began working toward my BBA in Finance, but I kept finding myself taking as many English courses as I could fit into my schedule. I wrote for my school newspaper, the Kentucky Kernel, and quickly found the journalism students assigned me all the "boring" business articles on budgets and school finances. Then, the head of the journalism department said he had the perfect job for my varied talents. For two years, I wrote the corporate newsletter for a subsidiary of IBM.

The second day of college I met my wonderful husband, Ed. When I graduated, we moved to Chicago to start our lives together. Somehow moving ended up being a virus, and we caught it. In a span of less than five years, we had three beautiful daughters. They were all born in different cities and we are now in our sixth location after fifteen years of marriage. Thankfully, I know love and family transcends everything.

Writing this novel with my mom was a true gift. Finally I could tap into the creative writing I always yearned to do. As much as I treasure my life as mom and wife, I'm excited to see all the paths I'm still yet to take. If nothing else, I've learned that life is an unpredictable journey.

Angela:

I was born in West Point, Georgia, but hail Williamston, North Carolina as home.  Writing has been a part of my life ever since I can remember.  I read and write in all genres. Both are my chocolate; they're addictive!

In 1970, I married my teenage sweetheart, Dallas. Our family has grown from three daughters to seven granddaughters and three wonderful son-in-laws. In the large bulk of time between marriage and family, we moved ten times, and I worked various jobs – 15 years with Hospice, 10 with Literacy, 3 as a Court Appointed Special Advocate for neglected, abused and abandoned youth, and as a Director of a preschool for at-risk children.

Between the moves and life, I craved learning. I attended five colleges, finally graduating from the State University of New York, Albany, with an English degree.  Every school I attended, I'd fall in love with a new discipline – accounting, microbiology, creative writing, Shakespearean studies, or Young Adult Literature. Even now at sixty, I'm still searching, often wondering what I'll be when I grow up. Whatever it is, I'm sure writing will always be a part of it.

Dana Silverthorne Newbrough

We wanted to highlight the woman responsible for our beautiful website, blog and cover design of our novel. Dana has managed to listen to two women of words and turn our thoughts into the visual.

A graduate of Virginia Tech with a Masters from West Virginia University, Dana is a former high school teacher turned mother to two girls (3 and 6 months), Samantha and Sydney. Dana enjoys all things creative from art to dance to scrapbooking, even teaching Zumba. Her daughter inspired to initially get in the blog world to share stories, pictures and memories with family and friends far away. She also created a blog for moms to exchange beloved recipes.
